Well...jus started working in ward 63C this mon and the workload there is a lot!!! OMG and it's worse when u only have 1 student in the whole cubicle!!! (that's what happen to me) haha... thank god that there is another student from ITE but the BAD NEWS is that this week is her last week in the ward whereby it's only my 1st week! sianx.... anyway we did the orientation of the ward as usual then did some briefing on wat we are suppose to do for our case study and stuffs we are allowed to do and Not allowed to do la...ah ya the usual boring stuffs that all of us already know la..
on tues, it was a really Horrible day for me!!! b'cos when i was done bathing my patient then the clinical instructor (CI) happen to come into my room and saw some medication on the bedside of the patient and asked me to feed the patient. So i went to find the IMR (inpatient medication record) so that i know wat drug i'm feeding the patient. That was when HELL came! haha... he started asking wat the drugs are and wat are they for then i told him all the drugs i'm suppose to feed and started feeding...after feeding CI asked me to go to the preparation room to debrief on wat i had jus did la...then he started bombarding me with some qns that i learned in yr 1 which i actually forgotten e.g. wat is the speed of feeding? wat is the name of the NGT? whether patient's bowel sound was normal? etc.. thank god i knew how to ans some of his qns la.. BUT he came to assess me in my HYPOCOUNT (blood glucose monitoring) that was when he he say: quek, u r already in yr 3 and u have to know such stuff.. this sentence made me so worried that i didn't even eat my lunch and was pondering on the qns he asked so i can go and find out ASAP... i'm afraid that i might fail this posting!!! SOMEBODY PRAY FOR ME!!!!!! but it is good that he assessed me early so i know where i can improve on and wat to read up for..so i dun blame him la b'cos he is jus doing his job...NVM I WILL SHOW HIM THAT AFTER THIS POSTING I WILL BE A BETTER NURSE THAT KNOWS HER WORK EVEN BETTER!!!! U CAN DO IT! JIA YOU!!!
that's all about the bad stuff about the ward...Now i shall talk about some interesting things that happened haha.. 1st thing that happened is during the bathing time of the patients, when i jus finished bathing a patient and was leaving the toilet, i saw my colleague who asked me to help her transfer patient so i did...This is when the patient told her that she wanted me to bath her JUS B'COS I CAN SPEAK TEOCHEW! she say she like me more than the other nurse.. haha jus b'cos i can speak teochew but my teochew is not very good la..! haha (weird)
2nd thing was during lunch where this cantonese grandma called me and asked whether i wanted the banana b'cos she cannot finish and wanted to give me half of it..haha.. although this is not the 1st time where patient offer me things to eat but i still find them very kind and funny..haha... there was this other patient who even wanted to give me a red packet b'cos she feels that i helped her a lot which i rejected the red packet b'cos i cannot accept it la..( though i wanted to!) LOL... last but not least, 3rd thing was the patient's started to ask me for my name but most of them cannot rmb b'cos they have poor memory as they are old.. so when i was busy with my work, i heard someone call my name but it didn't sound like any of my colleague and sounded a little eerie..b'cos it was very soft and i didn't expect the grandma to rmb my name. haha...so when i ignored, she called again so this time i answer to that call and realised that it was the grandma calling and that i was THINKING TOO MUCH! haha.. ( how can there be ghost like 1pm in the afternoon and when there is a lot of ppl walking about).. ok i should go to bed now!! b'cos i'm working morning shift tml!! so ciao!!! nitex!! =p
